Tracking Pageviews with Google Analytics

PAID FEATURE: Google Analytics tracking is only available on some paid plans—see if it’s on your plan.

Google Analytics tracking lets you see pageviews on your form using your Google Analytics account. It’s super useful when you want in-depth knowledge about how many people are viewing your form and who they are. You need a Google Analytics account to use this feature.

TIP! Depending on your location, you may see a banner about how Wufoo uses cookies. Read more.

Getting Your Tracking ID

You need to get your Google Analytics tracking ID so you can add it to your Form Settings page.

To find your tracking ID:

  1. Log in to your Google Analytics account and click Admin.
  2. Choose an account using the menu in the ACCOUNT section.
  3. Choose a property using the menu in the PROPERTY section.
  4. Click Tracking Info.
  5. Click Tracking Code.
  6. Copy your Tracking ID.

Now you'll need to add it to your form.

Adding the Tracking ID to Your Form

To apply Google Analytics tracking to your form:

  1. Log in to your Wufoo account and go to Forms.
  2. Click the form you want to edit.
  3. In the Form Builder, click Form Settings.
  4. Under Analytics, select Enable Google Analytics tracking.
  5. Enter your Google Analytics tracking ID.
  6. Click Save Form.

Awesome, now pageview data for your form will start popping into your Google Analytics account. Click tracking data isn't available.

Adding a Domain Name

If you use your Google Analytics account to track multiple domains, and you want your form analytics to be included under a specific one, enter that domain here.

This is really handy if you have a standalone form that isn’t embedded in your website. If you leave the Domain Name field blank, it’ll default to “Auto” and list your Wufoo subdomain as a separate domain in your Google Analytics account.

So if your form link is karaokefriends.wufoo.com/forms/lets-sing and your website is karaokefriends.com, you can enter karaokefriends.com in the Domain Name field to track pageviews for the form in the right spot in Google Analytics.

Common Questions

Why does Wufoo analytics differ from Google Analytics?

Google Analytics uses client-side tracking, which means the data has to go through various network, system, and browser settings before it reaches Google Analytics. This can result in a small loss of data.

Wufoo analytics uses server-side tracking, which means the data is passed straight from the server and there's no loss of data.

Why don't I see form data in Google Analytics?

It's most likely the Google Analytics tracking ID isn't correct.

Can I track interactions across my site and my form in a single session?
This is a bit more of an advanced process. We recommend Google Analytics documentation for any extra help.

If your website uses ga.js library you'll be able to track interactions across your website and your form in a single session. First, set the Domain name field to wufoo.com. You can then set this up with a hyperlink to your form or by embedding your form into your website.

Share a Hyperlink

Rather than sharing a direct link to your form, you must create a hyperlink with your analytics syntax in it.

For example, if your form is https://karaokefriends.wufoo.com/forms/karaokelove, your hyperlink could be:

<a href="karaokefriends.wufoo.com/forms/karaokelove"oneclick="_gaq.push(['_link', karaokefriends.wufoo.com/forms/karaokelove]); return false;">View My Form</a>

For more info, check out the Google Analytics documentation. Main Website Domain would be your website and Blog URL would be your Wufoo form.

Embed Your Form

When embedding your form into your site, the process for cross domain tracking will differ depending on how your website is setup. Please use the Google Analytics documentation to learn how to set this up for your site.

TIP! You can use Wufoo analytics to see other metrics, like conversion rates and error scores.
